Ok ok ok, I have months to recap. I don’t even remember all that happened, but here we go.
Oh yes, August. August, you weren’t necessarily my favorite. You brought me the bee sting, that stupid bee sting that made me miserable for like a week! The good news: I survived. My toes are completely normal and all the dead, poison-infested skin has long since been shed. It is as if it never happened. And I’m thankful for that… and of the mind set now that for all intents and purposes, I am now allergic to bee stings.
Our family also grew a bit… well we finally got a Mac. That’s what I meant. And for the most part, it’s been great. I’ve done some video editing, just a bit of picture editing, and tried my hand at some very small design projects. Very small. I think I will learn to love a Mac. But I refuse to love Jeff’s. There have been times where it has left me to be with Jeff on a work trip, and it has broken my heart, because I needed it. I relied on it. So I will not love it. I will love my own, though. Some. Day.
August also brought my parents to town. Ok, August, I must confess. Walking down this memory lane, I’m realizing you really weren’t all that bad. Anyway, Mom and I dabbled in cupcake decorating (so fun and delish!), and I started my love affair with painting with Jeff by my side. Sips n Strokes is so cool. If you live in Nashville or Atlanta or Alabama, you should go check it out. You will not be disappointed. And you will be surprised by how well you really can paint. Trust me.
And then came September. And Jeff on CBN News! And…
New
York
City
Oh New York City. I love you. You reawakened my love for travel and stirred a deeper love in me for excellent theater. And speaking of those video projects, below is the NYC photo tour video, just because I love it, and I want you to watch it again. Ready, go.
Well ok, I’m not really sure how true that statement is… or how fair that really is to the other months… but it is my birthday month!
July flew by. And I do mean that. We started out July in Georgia celebrating the 4th and experiencing IKEA for the first time. What an experience. The next week we house sat, got our new dining room table that we love, and then my brother and his band came down to play at a showcase. It was so great seeing him, even if only for a short visit. We enjoyed delicious Papa John’s pizza (the best!) and some intense games of Yahtzee and Jenga.
The next weekend we got to celebrate our friends Phil and Michelle at their wedding in Indy. It was beautiful. And then came my birthday. Hold on while I start another paragraph, because it deserves it’s own…

Thank you, thank you, thank you for an incredible birthday. To my friends and family and my darling husband, you all are wonderful. I will never forget this birthday. It was amazing. Thank you.
Then we ended the month up in Illinois, going to see S.H.A.R.C play at a concert they organized, Sold Out for Christ. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, just like the entire month, but it was an enjoyable busy.
We are so thankful that we got to see so many over the summer. It makes all the crazy busyness of managing our schedules and traveling and lack of sleep worth it. It’s hard to believe August is practically over – - it makes this summer seem like it happened so long ago. But we feel truly blessed to be able to have lived the summer we did, have so many wonderful people in our lives and actually get to see a few of you, to celebrate new lives (wedding) and an “old” one (my birthday), and to have the ability now to welcome so many of you into our home. We have a spare bedroom that is vacant most of the time, aside from Jeff’s work hours when it serves as an office, and a table with six empty seats. So get your names on our reservation list and come see us!!!
*Thanks to Joe Gomez Photo for the birthday photos!
Somewhere in between packing, moving and unpacking, I forgot to recap May. So here is May and June in a nutshell!
May was a big month. It was the climax of something we’d been anticipating for quite some time – - moving. Well, and Marissa would probably like us to say that her 16th birthday was pretty important, too!
Seriously, though, it was good to be able to drive down to Alabama and help her celebrate. But for the most part, May was devoted to getting this move done.
June was pretty awesome. We finally got to see Coldplay. (Insert a choir “ah” right about… here). And we were able to have some friends over to help celebrate our new home. Our church went on a retreat, and I got to experience rafting for the first time. This is a must-do-again activity. Oh, yes! We were also able to go back to Illinois the last weekend in June to see dear friends get married. It’s always a joy to attend a beautiful wedding like that. And to see old friends and family is simply icing on the cake.
Man, what a great couple months. And looking at them both condensed into two very small and precise paragraphs makes me realize how much we had on the calendar and wonder how it all got done! But it did. And I’m sure July will look very similar.
